Below, you will find a partial reprint of the back cover text for The Top 500 Heavy Metal Albums Of All Time. But first a few additional comments.

This book follows the format of The Top 500 Heavy Metal Songs Of All Time. For those who don't have it, here's the deal. We took a poll to find out who the winners were. I then wrote all new reviews for all 500 - my best writing yet, if you care (ha ha). I've then added quotes from the artists themselves for about 470 of the entries. I also got many of them to provide Top Ten lists of their own. There are also a bunch of album cover shots and more appendices than in the Songs book.

If you liked the Songs book, you'll dig this one even more, simply because the reviews are longer, and so are the artist quotes. In fact, these are WAY better, as obviously, the guy's got more to talk about with a whole album. The appendices are a bit more extensive too, with a dozen top tens by genre calculated from the results along with my observations on other arguably surprising things that fell out of the poll.

So yeah, the book is way longer by word count, probably about 25% longer. It came out to be 450 pages, but the publisher had to go to a 7" x 10" page size to keep it that low. Bottom line, it's my best book so far... best writing by me, totally KILLER, often hilarious, often very revealing and insightful quotes from the rockers.

And now that hype-y back cover text:

The Ultimate Heavy Metal Library Revealed!

The result of an extensive worldwide poll asking heavy metal fans to list their favorite high-octane albums, this compendium combines those survey results with Popoff's original interviews with world famous rockers who reveal recording session secrets, regale us with road tales, and let us into their crazy personal lives, in addition to offering their own Top Ten ear-splitting faves.

When all of this is melded with Popoff's unique and celebrated insights into heavy metal, an essential resource becomes a rock-writing standard. From AC/DC to ZZ Top and from Black Sabbath to Pantera, both headbanging chart-toppers and lesser-known gems are catalogued and critically appraised. With reviews of early metal albums of the late '60s, as well as the latest hits from the '00s, The Top 500 Heavy Metal Albums of All Time combines fearless criticism with hilarious, revealing, candid rock star quotes to produce an honest assessment of the 500 albums that topped the poll.

Praise for The Top 500 Heavy Metal Songs Of All Time:
If you're a fan of music, I think this book is something you need to have in your collection, something to refer to, when making the final decision on what's actually going to be lucky enough to make it into your CD player.
