Here's the story.
Had been working on this for years and then shelved it. Was persuaded to
finish it and allow it to be published. Now it has. The design is a little old
school, some of the pictures a bit blurry, but other than that, I'm glad it's
out and the information enclosed is pretty rockin'. I'm also quite pleased
that we managed to stuff in a staggering 424 photos of these mostly insanely
rare records.
So yeah, the book is comprised of reviews, by me, of pretty much every NWOBHM
single there ever was (an appendix lists those considered false NWOBHM). Most
of these bands never made albums, and in many cases, one single was their only
output.
For those who need a little reminding, the NWOBHM was an explosive metal
movement that gripped the UK, approximately spanning the years 1979 to 1983.
The bigger bands of the genre included Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Saxon, Tygers
Of Pan Tang, Fist, Witchfynde, Holocaust, Diamond Head, Samson, Quartz and
Angel Witch, all of whom had many, many singles out, all of them reviewed and
otherwise documented right here.
For almost every entry, I've provided a) the aforementioned review, b) a
present market value in $US dollars, c) catalogue number, label, and year of
release, and d) a bit of biographical info/trivia.
The book is 227 pages long, and includes approximately 580 reviews, and, like
I say, a whopping 424 pictures of these singles.
Long story, but this book may be out of print very, very quickly. If you give
a damn about the NWOBHM (and I know many of you probably don't!), er... get
yours now!
